Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard is championing her environmental activism with a new, capsule collection for jewelry house, Chopard.
Both Cotillard and Chopard are pursuing a journey towards sustainability. The collection titled Ice Cube Capsule by Marion Cotillard, first stemmed from a discussion between Cotillard and her friend, and co-president and artistic director for Chopard, Caroline Scheufele. The sustainable jewelry collection was unveiled last night, September 29, at the Ritz during Paris fashion week.
As part of the development for the jewelry collection, Oscar-winning actor Cotillard was given complete control of the artistic direction for the pieces while Chopard provided the responsibly sourced materials and technical support for the envisioned collection to be perfectly created. Speaking of the partnership, Cotillard said, “Chopard has accompanied me since my debut as an actress and I share Caroline Scheufele’s commitment to ethics, so this new collaboration is a great way to further strengthen the ties between us.”
Deriving from the notion of ethical jewelry and the distinct style and spirit of Chopard original Ice Cube collection, Cotillard has designed seven beautiful Haute Joaillerie creations. The items have been curated from Fairmined-certified ethical gold and diamonds. “Marion Cotillard is very creative and all our discussions on this project have been extremely inspiring. By bringing her interpretation to our Ice Cube collection, she is inventing a contemporary and relaxed way to wear diamonds. It is a great pleasure to combine her ideas with our expertise in the realm of ethical jewelry,” said Scheufele.
The Ice Cube Capsule by Marion Cotillard instills the previous Ice Cube collections notable graphics in the reinvented capsule series. Giving the collection a modernized and contemporary feel, Cotillard has designed a mixture of complementary items that are described as, “infused with a wave of asymmetry that gives it an even more contemporary look and feel.”
One part of the collection includes a standout ring, featuring two separate bands bound together by a princess-cut diamond, whilst another side of the collection centers around earrings which can be worn solo or stacked. One such piece is a combination of three rings, each set with a diamond, making up an earring that is connected at the back of the ear. All of the ear jewels have been developed as clips, as Cotillard intends them for non-pierced ears, like her own, as well as those that have been pierced.
