Before Marion Cotillard hits the 2017 Cannes Film Festival red carpet in a glamorous designer gown (and if previous festivals are any indication, she’ll step out in Dior,) she decided to keep it casual on opening day at the photocall of her new movie, Ismael’s Ghosts. The actor opted for a white, floor-trailing T-shirt dress with cuffed, patched jeans – a look plucked fresh off the Y/Project Fall 2017 ready-to-wear runway.
The top has a lace-up vertical slit for the deconstructed denim to peep out of. A practical and elegant choice, the look reminded us of the jeans-kaftan combo championed by women in our region. Those who are looking for a modest, everyday outfit for Ramadan without compromising on style can take a cue from Cotillard, who accessorized the simple ensemble with strappy orange sandals and a statement ring.
