Headwear took centre stage at Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2018 show at New York Fashion Week. Brooch-decorated headscarves and turbans were the key accessories in the spotlight, overtaking roomy handbags. A line-up of millennial models, including Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber, Gigi Hadid, Selena Forrest, Taylor Hill, Lexi Boling, Binx Walton, Kendall Jenner, and Teddy Quinlivan all sported Jacobs’s revamped signature look.

The look? Turbans – silk ones, jewel-encrusted, exaggerated, and stacked high on back-combed hair. This is going to be the microtrend of next summer and early adopters will already be taking note now for winter.

Jacobs took sartorial cues from his muses Sofia Coppola and Kate Moss to make the styling decision to place each model in turbans.
After all, Coppola recently sported one on the red carpet and few can forget the moment when Jacobs and Moss co-hosted The Met Gala, styling the supermodel in a metallic turban, instantly creating a classic moment in fashion history. As the fashion world is constantly looking back at itself for inspiration as well as perpetually moving forward, avid fans of the house of Marc Jacobs shouldn’t be surprised to see this classic key piece revived for the Spring 2018 season.
