Pledging your allegiance to a brand is no longer subject to just T-shirts and handbags. While we won’t fall out of favor with logo Tees or luxury leather accessories emblazoned with branded enthusiasm, it’s clear that the major design houses are finding new, chic ways to get loyal customers outed as fans. Fendi‘s ‘F’ traced all the way up a pair of tights at its Spring 2018 ready-to-wear show, following on from look 9’s sheer pencil skirt that was equally as proud to be from the Italian maison. Over at Alexander Wang Pre-Fall 2017, the house got witty and printed Wangover down the side of sheer matte black tights in calligraphy font. Bella Hadid gave her stamp of approval to the new era of slogan tights last year, wearing the ‘girls’ tights on the streets in New York. Naturally, we’re expecting to see more stars wear these tights reminiscent of ‘Wangfest’ antics.

While there’s still the single logo style available, it’s clear Demna Gvasalia struck yet another chord on the sartorial zeitgeist. Meanwhile, over at Gucci it’s all about the rhinestone socks. Best worn pulled up and teamed with sky-high sandals, according to Vogue Arabia cover girl Rihanna. If everyone’s favorite fashion renegade, Rihanna walks that way, the chances are the fashion extroverts of East and West will soon follow.
