Like Evan Rachel Wood who recently opted for a custom Altuzarra tux on the red carpet at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards, Depp went for nonchalant approach while attending the 2017 César Awards Révélations dinner in Paris. The 17-year-old model and actress–who is nominated for a merit award in the Most Promising Actress category–wore a slim-cut, black tailored suit that she paired with an ivory button-down shirt by Chanel. Depp kept her look grounded by coordinating her look with a loose black tie, which emitted a renegade spirit. Meanwhile, she broke up her monochrome outfit with a pop of color by way of satin, round-toe heels in fuchsia by the Parisian brand.
The women’s suit is having a moment with designers such as Racil Chalhoub and Arwa Al Banawi who are putting their own spin on the classic style through luxe materials such as velvet and jacquard, and vibrant prints. The perception of the borrowed-from-the-boys silhouette shifted when Coco Chanel designed trousers for women, a radical move in its time. Meanwhile, Yves Saint Laurent took the tux mainstream by introducing Le Smoking in 1966 amid his Pop Art collection.
