“I’ve wanted to walk this carpet since I was 10 years old. I am floored. God is good,” wrote Lili Reinhart on Instagram following her Golden Globes red carpet debut at the 76th edition of the annual award ceremony in Beverly Hills on Sunday night. For such a momentous and long-awaited occasion, the 22-year-old actress naturally had to wear something equally as memorable. Cue: a frothy, red couture creation from London-based label Khyeli, which is spearheaded by Emirati designer Ahmed Alkhyeli. The strapless, tulle dress featured a ruched neckline and ruffles that cascaded down the back before culminating into a floor-trailing train, and was plucked from the label’s Spring 2019 couture collection. Unlike many a couture gowns, Reinhart’s romantic dress was free of any sparkle or embellishment. “I love a big, massive gown, but I want it to look effortless,” Ahmed Alkhyeli told Vogue Arabia. Instead, the Riverdale star added a little dazzle to her show-stopping gown a la Swarovski jewels. She completed the look with matching satin pumps from Christian Louboutin.
Keeping in line with the number of stars who matched their outfits to their hair and makeup (read Lady Gaga’s powder blue updo and Lupita Nyong’o‘s violet lashes), Reinhart opted for a sheer dusting of burgundy eyeshadow wrapped around her eyes and that extended into her temples for a sultry, feline effect. She off-set her smokey eyes with a swipe of nude lipstick and a sleek updo that was parted neatly to one side.
Reinhart is certainly emerging as a red carpet star to watch out for. Last night’s Golden Globes look is the latest in a lineup of show-stopping red carpet ensembles she’s donned recently. On Saturday, the actress attended the Art of Elysium’s 12th Annual Celebration wearing a sheer black dress from Rasario, and the day before turned heads in a floral Brock Collection ensemble. And with the Oscars just around the corner, one can expect the star to keep the momentum going.
