Fashion and technology have come together in the most inspiring of ways as Lenovo joined forces with Egyptian creative Marmar Halim and design school FAD Institute. The goal of this one-of-a-kind collaboration? To help empower and provide a platform to the upcoming generation of designers while bridging the gap between fashion and technology via Lenovo’s new Yoga Book 9i.
A wider campaign titled #BeTheCreator saw Lenovo offer three exceptional students from FAD the opportunity to be mentored by Marmar Halim and eventually create three distinct outfits inspired by the Lenovo Yoga design philosophy. The resulting looks showcased a symphony of fashion, sustainability, and technology, and were presented at an intimate event, held at Halim’s atelier in Dubai Design District. “I truly applaud Lenovo for this initiative and was very excited to see the potential in future generations come out through today’s digital platforms,” said the designer. “The designs that were created through this campaign are a testament to how technology can be used to further inspire the creative visionaries of the future.”
“Empowering the next generation to create and innovate has always been part of Lenovo’s core values,” reads a statement from Lenovo. “Through our game-changing collaboration with Marmar Halim and FAD Institute, we are revolutionizing the landscape where technology meets fashion. Our Yoga lineup, particularly the Yoga Book 9i, is more than just a device; it’s an invitation to consume, create, and collaborate on one’s own terms. The exceptional designs crafted by the students under Marmar Halim’s mentorship bring this vision to life. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to these young visionaries and look forward to continuing to innovate to empower more people to express themselves through technology.”
At the event, guests also had the chance to view the new Yoga Book 9i, which was created to drive expression and creativity powered by “inspiration, performance, sustainability, versatility, and portability”. Notable features of the Yoga Book 9i (13″ Intel) include Carbon Neutral Certification, Energy Star® rating, and EPEAT® Gold registration. In its commitment to sustainability, the device is offered in plastic-free packaging using paper board cushioning, paper-made system bag, and FSCTM-certified paper wrap, while the power adapter case is built with 90% recycled plastic, and the top cover with 100% recycled aluminum.
