L’Afshar’s handmade clutches and bags might be petit but they are unique in their design and have a resounding presence. The Dubai brand has been the go-to accessory for celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Beyonce since its launch in 2013. The label, with British-born Iranian designer Lilian Afshar at its helm, has recently introduced a new limited-edition bag called Sierra to its collection. This time, to specifically support Covid-19 relief efforts.

The purple-colored minaudiere is an ode to the seventh and highest chakra which references the spiritual energy center within the human body in yoga and meditative practices. It symbolizes spirituality, strength, passion and meditation–qualities that Afshar believes will help humanity get through this crisis together. “In an effort to give back during these uncertain times, we have designed a limited-edition bag,” the product’s online listing states. “100 percent of all proceeds will be donated to Doctors Without Borders, a charity chosen by L’Afshar’s fans.”

The designer also recently told Vogue, “During isolation from the world, I’ve to find somewhere to look, so I’ve looked inward.” She adds: “It’s always time to give back, and now more than ever, we have to think of ways beyond our norms to move forward collectively.” Sierra, which also features gold hardware and magnetic fastening, is priced at USD 1,000 (AED 3,674) and can be bought here. “This [experience] has taught me that everything is connected, and the only way to get through this is together,” said Afshar. “The world moved at such a fast pace [so] I am using this time to experiment with my materials,” she added. “Creativity, for me, is taking risks and most importantly, a way of connecting with people.”

L’Afshar supports Doctors without Borders (MSF) and their Covid-19 Crisis Fund. Proceeds from the Sierra Purple bag will be donated to their campaign that we are supporting. Find more details on the following link: yallagive.com
