Donatella Versace’s contribution to the industry was credited at the end of last year when leading designers and models celebrated her success at the British Fashion Awards 2017, applauding her success as she scooped up the gong for ‘Fashion Icon’ of the year.
Lady Gaga concurred, “Donatella Versace is one of fashion’s most iconic figures”. Whilst giving reference to the sheer green revealing dress that Jennifer Lopez wore to the 2000 Grammy Awards, she proudly boasted “Who else can be credited with giving birth to Google images? Remember when you created this dress for J-Lo, people went so crazy Googling it that Google had to come up with a more efficient way of looking for it.”
Lady Gaga is also the narrator for CNN Style’s playful film tribute to the notorious blonde, which is part of a series of features commissioned by CNN Style’s guest editor Claudia Schiffer. In the trailer, Gaga introduces herself charmingly as ‘Stefania Germanotta, also known as Lady Gaga, close friend and confidant to this blonde powerhouse.” The film which is directed by filmmaker Ivan Olita also featured acclaimed model Gigi Hadid to mark Donatella’s 20th anniversary as the creative director of Versace. Gigi Hadid praised Donatella, describing her as a talent who makes “women all over the world feel powerful, strong and beautiful.” Adding, “I love you and I thank you for everything.”
