Kim Kardashian West Wore an Outrageous Archival Piece by This Arab Designer

Kim Kardashian West has officially reached the most extreme level of animal print. Today, KKW posted an image of herself sprawled out on a couch in Paris, wearing head-to-toe leopard spots. The wild ensemble included a bodysuit, coat, and vertiginous laced-up boots. As for the caption, she tossed out an iconic line from the film Clueless: “You don’t understand…this is an Alaïa.” Indeed, the look was by famed designer Azzedine Alaïa, specifically a set from his Fall 1991 collection that was worn by supermodel Deon Bray.

This is far from the first time KKW has worn an archival piece. Last month to see the exhibition “Thierry Mugler: Couturissime” at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Kardashian West wore not one, but two different Thierry Mugler pieces. (One dress was from the Fall 1999 Couture collection and the other was from Spring 1994.) Other examples of covetable yesteryear pieces that have graced her body include that unforgettable hiked-up Tom Ford-era Gucci swim thong from Spring 1997 and more recently, a skin tight semi-sheer purple Jean Paul Gaultier crop top. (Fun fact: Her sisters are also fans of the label..) As for this bombshell throwback? It’s certainly one of her most eye-catching looks, and quite possibly her rarest find so far.
