9 Times Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West Served Couple Goals in Style

Couples who turn heads together, stay together. Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West prove this unfailingly, every time they step out. Whether they’re photographed while posing on a red-carpet or snapped by paparazzi getting out of their cars, the power couple, dubbed Kimye, are always dressed to impress for the occasion.

When it comes to outfit choices, the duo does it their own way, having made cases for both contrasting styles, color-coords, and matching ensembles. Kimye’s appearance at the Givenchy FW13 show in Paris was a major sartorial win, appearing in comparable suits in contrasting monochrome hues – just for that extra spin. At the 2016 Met Gala, the couple stunned in coordinated silver sequined outfits supporting their good friend, Balmain creative director, Olivier Rousteing.

It’s no secret that Kardashian West’s journey from reality queen to beauty mogul and style icon coincided with her relationship with West, with the star admitting that the rapper had a huge influence on her wardrobe. “When I met you, you gave me the biggest closet makeover,” she says in her Vogue Arabia interview with West for the September issue. “I didn’t understand at the time why you wanted to get rid of pretty much everything I owned, but I pretended like I did. You were showing me all of these different designers that I had never heard of before. Now, I totally get it.”

Now confident in what she wears, a large part of Kardashian West’s fashion appeal is her ability to take risks – no corset is too tight, or material too revealing for the star who is unafraid of bold style choices.

However, it wasn’t until 2013, at her Met Gala debut that Kardashian West truly cemented herself as a style icon. With a little help from West and Givenchy’s then creative director Riccardo Tisci,  she wore a long-sleeved floral gown with matching gloves, which ended up being the most talked about look of the night. The couple’s relationship with the designer peaked when Tisci, still for Givenchy, created Kardashian’s custom long-sleeved lace-paneled wedding dress as well as West’s tuxedo for their lavish ceremony in May 2014.

As well as having a plethora of designer friends to turn to for unique pieces, Kardashain West also has the benefit of a fashion designer husband. For her first public appearance after giving birth to their second child Saint West, the KKW beauty mogul was dressed by West, in a silver sequin dress and a voluminous white fur coat matching her long, platinum blonde wig.

As well as a Grammy award-winning music artist, West’s impact on the fashion industry has been substantial. He has worked on major collaborations with the likes of Louis Vuitton, Balmain, Giuseppe Zanotti, A.P.C, and, most notably, Adidas, and has commanded attention from the fashion world. His penchant for luxury brands and avant-garde designers is evident in his versatile wardrobe of high-end designer pieces and sportswear-inspired silhouettes.
