Anyone who has paid attention to Kim Kardashian’s wardrobe of late will notice that one brand has taken center stage. In the last year, the reality diva has taken to wearing Balenciaga’s creations daily, and marking important moments in her life—her first time hosting Saturday Night Live, an appearance on Kanye West’s DONDA stage, and that incognito trip to the Met Gala—with custom pieces from Demna. Given her affinity for all things Balenciaga, it makes sense that Kardashian is now front and center in their latest campaign.
Shot by photographer Stef Mitchell in her Calabasas home, Kardashian wears contrasting looks that showcase both her personal style and Demna’s reach. In one image, she’s a futuristic muse in a sleek black catsuit, while in the second shot, she’s distinctly 2022 in her leopard print oversized coat, knife boots, and the bag of the moment, La Cagole. The outfits aren’t dissimilar to what she’s been enjoying of late, but the stylized portraiture takes things beyond a mere celebrity selfie.
Star power is necessary during campaign season, and Balenciaga ensured Kardashian was in good company. In addition to top models Tommy Blue and Marie Agnès Diene, the campaign features French cinema icon Isabelle Huppert, who appeared in the brand’s fall advertising. Captured in intimate photographs shot by Mitchell in her Paris residence Huppert, who, like Kardashian, wears plenty of Balenciaga on the red carpet, seems entirely in her element. Whether you choose to see Mitchell’s at-home images as a meta glimpse into celebrity life off-duty or slick branding is a matter of perspective. Still, the campaign does beg the question, what over-the-top Demna design will Kardashian wear next?
