At Sunday night’s Oscars 2019 afterparty, Kendall Jenner stepped out in what might be her boldest look since that Fausto Puglisi dress back in 2014. Arriving with her father, Caitlyn Jenner in tow, the 23-year-old demanded a double take wearing a barely-there gown for the occasion. Lebanese couturier Rami Kadi was the brainchild behind the daring creation, which featured a cut-out halterneck and sky-high slits on either side that left little to the imagination.
The glittery gown first appeared on the designer’s last Spring 2019 couture collection, which he showcased during Paris Couture Week in January. Entitled Éternite Émphemère, the collection was inspired by Burning Man. She elevated the look with chunky black earrings and matching pointed-toe pumps with PVC detailing.
Kadi already counts the likes of Myriam Fares, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Rachel McAdams as fans, and is excited to add the world’s highest paid model to his growing list of VIP clientele. “Kendall Jenner has always been the image of a model that I would love to dress, even when designing my own pieces I get inspired by her looks to do that. I’m thrilled to see my gown worn by one of the most anticipated and most influential models of this age,” revealed the Lebanese couturier.
According to the designer, Jenner’s stylist picked out a selection of looks from the Beirut-based house for the model to pick and choose from. But it wasn’t until pictures of Jenner wearing the dress started to circulate on the Internet that the designer actually found out which design she ultimately settled on. “Thank God the dress didn’t need any edits. It fit her magically,” he mused. “I guess it was meant to be.”
Even though Jenner’s show-stopping appearance was technically after the awards ceremony, it might just put her on the list of the Oscars’ most memorable dresses for years to come.
