For the first time since 2002, Gisele Bündchen is no longer the highest-earning model. Kendall Jenner is. Forbes released its annual list of highest-paid models on Tuesday, and the results come as somewhat of a surprise considering the Brazilian model has held the top spot for nearly a decade and a half. Bündchen was dethroned by Jenner, who raked in US $22 million in 2017, as compared to the former Victoria’s Secret model’s US $17.5 million.
According to Forbes, Jenner, who made her debut on the list in 2015, has Instagram to thank for her number one spot. With her cool 85 million followers, the 21-year-old is able to post sponsored content as well as secure brand partnerships with Estée Lauder, La Perla, Alexander Wang, and Adidas among many others. In addition to the social media platform, Jenner has checks coming in from her family’s reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians and her Kendall + Kylie clothing line.
Rounding out the top three is Chrissy Teigen, who made $13.5 million. Gigi Hadid made the list for the second consecutive year, coming in at number five with US $9.5 million in earnings (she is tied with Rosie Huntington-Whitely). Bella also made the list for the first time, with US $6 million placing her on the 9th spot. She’s followed by Ashley Graham, who became the first plus-size model to make the list. Coming in at number 10 with US $5.5 million in earnings, thanks to her collections with Additionelle and Swimsuits For All among others.
