Kate Middleton Rewore Her Blue Elie Saab Dress to King Charles’ Coronation Garden Party

How does Kate, Princess of Wales dress up for a garden party? By re-wearing a spring-ready creation, designed by Arab talent, no less. For the first gathering held under the reign of the newly-crowned King Charles III, Kate looked to a bespoke piece in her wardrobe created by Lebanese designer Elie Saab. The dress was previously worn by the royal to the 2019 Royal Ascot, and appears to take cues from separates from Saab’s Resort 2019 collection. The queen-in-waiting paired the dress with an Elie Saab clutch, the same Philip Treacy hat she wore to the Ascot, silver Gianvito Rossi pumps, and blue topaz hoop earrings by Kiki McDonough.

A stark contrast from the bold Alexander Mcqueen red power suit she wore to the coronation concert, the powder blue dress embraced femininity with sheer detailing, a pussy bow neckline, embroidery, and a layered tulle skirt. The color blue has been a favorite of royals all throughout the coronation weekend. While a cornflower blue dress was also worn by the Duchess of Edinburgh at the garden party, Kate herself has been spotted in a powder blue blouse at The Big Help Out event, and a blazer in a similar hue by Reiss for a surprise appearance ahead of the coronation concert. She also wore a royal blue dress by Self-Portrait to kickstart the festivities by greeting guests on the eve of the coronation.

A lot—and more than usual—has been said as of late about Kate’s style, which seems to be seamlessly transitioning from that of the Princess of Wales to the queen-in-waiting, all while paying subtle tributes to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana, and the late Queen Elizabeth. With a number of royal engagements to follow under King Charles III’s reign, one can expect more looks that further cement Kate’s carefully honed sartorial sense.
