Kaia Gerber is the latest It Girl to get the Karl Lagerfeld seal of approval, following in the high-heeled footsteps of the chosen few before her (Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne, and Lily-Rose Depp, to name a few.) Shortly after making her runway debut at Calvin Klein’s Spring 2018 show, the 16-year-old went on to make her first Couture Week appearance for none other than Chanel (following appearances at both the Pre-Fall and Spring 2018 collections). She also stepped on to the Milan runway for the first time at, you guessed it, Fendi Spring 2018, where she served as the show opener.
Not long afterwards, the teen daughter of legendary supermodel Cindy Crawford joined forces with the German designer again, on a capsule collection of ready-to-wear and accessories with the designer’s eponymous label, set to hit stores this September. But that is seemingly not enough for the mega-model, who has been selected to star in the brand’s Fall 2018 campaign for the main collection.
Gerber features in a series of campaign images, wearing key pieces from the brand’s Fall 2018 collection, which are inspired by Parisian architecture. The designer, who is a prominent photographer (he shot Bella Hadid for Vogue Arabia’s September 2017 cover), lensed the campaign at his 7L studio in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, against the backdrop of thousands of books. “Karl is a dream to work with, he is such a pro. He knows exactly what he wants and he knows just how to achieve [it],” says Gerber of working with the icon.
