During her casual outings, she often opts for a tank top, well-fitted jeans and a pair of Adidas Samba trainers, reminiscent of her mother Cindy Crawford’s iconic off-duty style. However, on the red carpet, the model leans towards elegant gowns, occasionally embellished for added glamour, yet typically featuring clean and understated silhouettes. However, her recent public appearance revealed a departure towards a more whimsical, retro-inspired fashion direction.

At the premiere of Apple TV+’s Palm Royale in Beverly Hills – in which she takes on the role of Mitzi, a local manicurist – the model progeny-turned-actor arrived in a sophisticated ensemble with a modern twist on a quirky ’60s silhouette. Designed by Alaïa’s creative director Pieter Mulier, her outfit included a turquoise high-neck asymmetrical dress crafted from draped crepe georgette, paired with a coordinating blue fringe belt from the brand’s spring/summer 2024 collection. She completed the look with striking white leather ankle-strap pumps.
Given her role as the star of Alaïa’s spring/summer 2024 campaign, lensed by Tyrone Lebon, it’s no surprise that Kaia chose to rock the brand’s pieces on the red carpet. While Mulier’s unconventional details add a touch of eccentricity to Kaia’s usual minimalist aesthetic, the overall sleekness of the designs resonates well with her personal style.
What’s more, it seems retro looks are a favorite of the model’s at the moment. Earlier this month, Kaia Gerber also showed her followers how to rock disco hair with a head full of artfully disheveled curls, which she wore with a sparkling Celine dress. between her party-ready look last week, and this weekend’s pleated Alaïa creation, it’s safe to say that Gerber is truly embodying the ’80s era in style.
