Arab fashion is booming and getting stronger every year. Its presence on the red carpet at the world’s most important events is a testament to its high standing. Since the launch of Fashion Trust Arabia (FTA) under the patronage of HH Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser as honorary chair, the regional industry has been witnessing increased activity and great support.

This initiative, led by Lebanese writer and entrepreneur Tania Fares, aims to bring Arab fashion design to the international forefront. Ahead of the awards ceremony this October, the non-profit organization has announced some of the industry’s biggest names that will join the judging panel of its next edition.

Jury members

FTA has revealed the names of the jury members for this year’s awards ceremony, which will be held in Doha, Qatar, on October 26. The panel includes 24 famous names in various fashion fields. Jordanian-Romanian accessories designer Amina Muaddi has recently been added, alongside famous Lebanese fashion designer Zuhair Murad, French designer Olivier Rousteing, Italian designer Pierpaolo Piccioli, and others.

Five designers in five categories

The FTA judging panel will select five winning designers, whose designs are based on five categories within the women’s wear categories. These are: evening gowns, ready-to-wear, accessories (shoes/bags), jewelry (trendy jewelry, and haute jewelry), and the Franca Sozzani Debut Talent Award, an award granted by the judging panel to a graduate of an Arab fashion design school.

Sixth prize from the hosting country

This year also features a special award, the Guest Country Award, which will be given to the best emerging Turkish designer, in partnership with Istanbul Apparel Exporters’ Association.

Details of the Ceremony

Jury members will meet and discuss the 24 finalists during their collection showcase on 26 October in Qatar. The Jury will announce the winners during the FTA 2022 Awards Ceremony at the National Museum of Qatar under the patronage and presence of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.
