Dubai is no stranger to grand celebrations. This weekend, the opening of the city’s newest luxury hotspot, the One&Only One Za’abeel, saw some of the region and the world’s biggest stars come together. Below, we take you through all the personalities spotted at the event, and a peek at what they wore.
On January 10, One&Only One Za’abeel opened its doors for the very first time, inviting a selection of handpicked guests for a first look at its opulent interiors. On the guest list were some of the region’s most-loved names — think Nancy Ajram, Karen Wazen, Dana Hourani and Jessica Kahawaty — and joining them were some of the world’s biggest stars, from Jennifer Lopez and Naomi Campbell, to Vincent Cassel, Vanessa Hudgens, and Angela Yeung Wing, along with Sabrina and Idris Elba. Here’s a breakdown of what the stars wore to the big night.
Nancy Ajram
The Lebanese singer, often referred to the region’s “Queen of Pop”, wore an elegant Valentino gown in a shade similar to Peach Fuzz, the Pantone color of the year. Ajram paired the look with delicate earrings and a sparkling Valentino clutch to complete the ensemble.
Jennifer Lopez
American singer and actor Jennifer Lopez didn’t just attend the grand opening of One&Only One Za’abeel, she also treated guests to a special performance during the evening. On the red carpet, JLo wore a sleek all-black Giambattista Valli look paired with white gloves, a matching clutch, and Christian Louboutins. On stage, she changed into a sequined jumpsuit topped off with a faux fur jacket.
Jessica Kahawaty
Bringing a strong dose of glam to the hotel opening, Jessica Kahawaty sparkled in a silver sequined dress by Magda Butrym, which she paired with strappy black heels and a romantic hairdo complete with bow.
Vanessa Hudgens
Red gowns seem to be a big favorite among stars right now, and Vanessa Hudgens seems to be a fan of the look too. The actor attended the opening of the hotel in a dramatic red Zimmermann number, styled with chunky gold earrings.
Naomi Campbell
British supermodel and fashion icon Naomi Campbell attended the grand opening in a shimmery black gown by Ali Karoui Couture, a UAE-based designer of Tunisian descent. The dress was paired with a Bulgari necklace, a ring, and multicolored bracelets.
Sabrina Elba
Somali-Canadian model and actress Sabrina Elba dressed in a heavily embellished ocean-inspired couture gown by London-based Uzbeki designer Sabina Bilenko. Elba wore a white diamond bracelet and ring from Lebanese jewelry house Mouawad, along with her wedding ring.
