Jennifer Lopez famously sang Love Don’t Cost A Thing, but her former fiancés might disagree. Married three times, engaged five, and currently planning a fourth wedding to baseball star Alex Rodriguez, Lopez has been presented with quite the collection of rings over the years.
Lopez said in 2016 that she has had “so many good romantic moments” and “amazing proposals” over the years, not knowing then that her most impressive was yet to come. Alex Rodriguez got down on one knee in March 2019 during the couple’s stay at the idyllic Baker’s Bay in the Bahamas after a two-year courtship, producing a diamond worth a reported $5 million (£3.8 million) and asking J Lo to become Mrs. A-Rod. The couple has had to postpone the wedding owing to the coronavirus pandemic, but a lavish celebration is expected when it does go ahead.
From the rocks that sparked new jewelry trends (hello, pink “Bennifer” diamond), to the ones that might have passed you by, Vogue takes a closer look at Jennifer Lopez’s engagement rings.

To Ojani Noa
Restaurant owner Noa proposed to a 27-year-old Lopez with a pear-shaped diamond engagement ring, and the pair married on 22 February 1997. They went their separate ways the following year.
To Cris Judd
Following her two-year romance with Diddy (then Puff Daddy), Lopez fell for choreographer Cris Judd, who she met on the set of her Love Don’t Cost A Thing music video. Judd proposed with an emerald-cut stone enhanced by smaller diamonds across the band, and the couple married in 2001, with Lopez in a chantilly lace Valentino gown. They divorced after two years of marriage.
To Ben Affleck
“Bennifer” was born in 2002, when Lopez and Affleck met on the set of the film Gigli. This high-profile romance was formalised with an impressive Harry Winston 6.10 carat pink diamond ring, which set Affleck back a reported $1.2 million (£934,000) in the autumn of 2002. It sparked the trend for coloured engagement rings, but the pair never made it down the aisle. They went their separate ways four days before their planned wedding in 2004.
To Marc Anthony
In June 2004, Lopez married her long-time friend and former beau, Latin salsa star Marc Anthony. Her third husband proposed with another Harry Winston diamond, understood to be an 8.5 carat stone that cost $4 million (£3.1 million). The pair had twins, Emme and Max, in 2008, before separating in 2011. Their divorce was finalized in 2014, and Lopez legally returned to her maiden name.
To Alex Rodriguez
Lopez revealed on March 9, 2019 that her baseball star beau, Rodriguez, had popped the question in the Bahamas after two years together. The emerald-cut stone is thought to be between 10 and 15 carats, and worth up to $5 million (£3.8 million). Lopez and Rodriguez’s planned 2020 nuptials are currently on hold due to Covid.
