Over the years, American pop icon Jennifer Lopez has turned heads in many stunning outfits designed by the region’s finest creatives. Having championed Arab designers on red carpets, exhibitions, after-parties, premieres, and even television appearances, it is no secret that Zuhair Murad, Nicolas Jebran, Charbel Zoe, and Elie Saab have found their biggest fan in the multi-hyphenate star. On the opening night of her ‘It’s My Party’ tour in Los Angeles, Lopez lit the stage up in Jebran’s 50,000 UV reactive crystal dress followed by Zuhair Murad’s striking-blue fringe couture creation.
The first time J Lo appeared in a custom Zuhair Murad dress for the 2010 Met Gala – which took over 1,000 hours to make – was one of the proudest moments in the Lebanese designer’s career. Since then, the pop icon has worn Murad’s designs to the 2012 Oscars, 2015 Golden Globes, 2015 American Music Awards, and in the music video for her hit track Medicine. In an interview with the event organizer for her world tour, Venture Lifestyle, Lopez said, “I love Zuhair, he’s probably my favorite.”
While her love for Murad’s glimmering designs is evident, the Ain’t Your Mama singer has also worn showstopping outfits made by Elie Saab and Nicolas Jebran. In 2017, J Lo rocked a piece from the Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring 2017 collection at the NBC Universal Upfront, and a mini black dress with voluminous sleeves for the Today Show. Lopez has also shown her support for emerging regional labels, such as Charbel Zoe, which she wore to the 2014 Video Music Awards, and then a year later to the 2015 Billboard Music Awards.
In celebration of her 51st birthday today (July 24), take a look at some of her best fashion moments courtesy of Arab designers in the gallery above.
