Gurira plays the role of Okoye, the protector of Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa in the fictional country of Wakanda. At the European premiere of the Marvel film she chose to wear a stunning, phoenix-inspired mermaid dress by Jean-Louis Sabaji. The show-stopping gown features a rising phoenix in mother-of-pearl feathers set with opulent embroidery in crystals, glass beads, and silk threadwork. Gurira looked like royalty in the elegant dress, which featured an open back and winged neckline. The look was elevated with intricate designs stenciled in the back of her buzzed head.
