Melania Trump Dons Ethereal Elie Saab for Belgian Visit

Rex

When Brigitte Macron and Melania Trump get together, their side-by-side fashion choices often tell an interesting story—usually through opposing shapes and colors. This week, both First Ladies attended a performance at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo, Belgium, ahead of the NATO summit dinner. For the day’s activities, both women stuck with heavily relied-upon fashion labels in two disparate (but still classic) silhouettes.

For Macron, this meant an optic-white Louis Vuitton skirt suit, paired with futuristic metallic silver stilettos for a directional touch. Mrs. Trump opted for a fit-and-flare frock from Calvin Klein 205W39 in midnight blue with a contrast white-and-green panel and white Christian Louboutin stilettos in the same shape as her French counterpart.

If their daytime looks read differently, for evening it appeared that both women were on the same page, at least palette-wise. Madame Macron again looked to Vuitton for her slick spin on the classic smoking suit, reworked in white with a contrasting peak lapel. Trump went ethereal in a floaty A-line dress from Elie Saab whose leafy motif recalled the dress she donned earlier this month at the White House to greet Queen Letizia of Spain. And while the NATO summit saw tensions rise amongst the world’s leaders, these First Ladies demonstrated that despite their opposing styles, the unifying element between them is still the color of peace.
