If You Aren’t Sure Of The Babushka Trend, Imaan Hammam’s Latest Instagram Will Convince You

The babushka has emerged as one of the most unlikely trends this season, with both women and men elevating their outfits with delicate scarves secured neatly under their chin or tied around the neck. The headwear first popped up on the runways of Gucci and Vetements, before appearing on ASAP Rocky, who wore a pink Gucci head covering on the red carpet at the LACMA Art and Film Gala in Los Angeles. To echo the Fashion Killa singer, “I just wanted to show off my babushka today, honestly. I’m just encouraging all guys to wear babushkas from here on out. Silk gang, silk city. You know how we do it.” Shortly after, the headgear has been spotted on everyone from Frank Ocean, Kendall Jenner, and most recently, Imaan Hammam.

The Moroccan-Egyptian model uploaded a black-and-white Selfie on Instagram of herself with her trademark curls tucked into a printed, knotted headscarf that was tied in the classic style of Hollywood starlets such as Sophia Lauren or Grace Kelly. She paired the babushka, which takes its name from the Russian grandmothers who wear them, with a matching denim button-down. The main takeaway? It’s time to tie the knot.
