As ‘wedding season‘ remains on hold, let’s look back to happier times of celebration and joy. From the demure Grace Kelly to Princess Lalla Salma of Morocco, take a look below at some of the most inspiring brides in history.

1. Diana Princess of Wales

Who could forget the wedding of Lady Diana Spencer to Charles, Prince of Wales, on July 29, 1981. Diana wore an ivory silk taffeta and antique lace gown, with a 25-foot train. Designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel,  it will remain one of the most memorable wedding dresses in history.

2. Grace Kelly

The iconic wedding dress of the American actor and Oscar-winner Grace Kelly, worn during her wedding to Prince Rainer III of Monaco on April  19, 1956, was designed by Helen Rose of MGM. The dress was made up of a lace bodice with an attached under-bodice and included an elaborate headdress and lace veil.

3. Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian chose a demure Givenchy Haute Couture white lace gown with sheer paneling and long sleeves, designed by her close friend Riccardo Tisci for her nuptials in Florence, to Kanye West.

4. Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn’s marriage to Mel Ferer, was one of the most anticipated weddings of all time. Her ballerina-length wedding gown was created by Pierre Balmain and featured a sash waistband, long chiffon sleeves and a high collar typical of the 1950s.

5. Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra wore a custom Ralph Lauren gown featuring mother of pearl paillettes and Swarovski crystal embellishment, for one of the many ceremonies to Nick Jonas. Topped off with a 75 ft tulle veil, it represented the epitome of glamour.

6. Priscilla Presley

Elvis Presley married the young Priscilla Ann Wagner in the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas with just fourteen of their closest friends and family on May 1, 1967. She wore a demure floor-length white wedding dress in silk chiffon, featuring chiffon sleeves covered with sparkling seed pearls.

7. Amal Clooney

Human rights lawyer, Amal Alamuddin, wore a stunning off-the-shoulder ivory Oscar de la Renta lace gown, when she married George Clooney at the Belmond Hotel Cipriani, in Venice in 2014. It would be the last creation he designed before his death later that year.

8. Nancy Ajram

Nancy Ajram chose a modern, chic dress for her wedding to Dr. Fadi Al Hashem in Cyprus in 2008.

9. Princess Lalla Salma of Morocco

While having reportedly met at a private party, Salma Bennani married King Mohammed VI in a traditional dress on March 21, 2002, at the Rabat Royal Palace, and was granted the title of Princess Salma of Morocco.

10. Bianca Jagger

For her wedding to rock and roll legend Mick Jagger in Saint Tropez in 1971, Bianca Jagger wore a pristine white YSL suit with a chic white veiled sunhat. The look is still heavily referenced today.
