Launching today, on Mother’s Day, is Hussein Bazaza‘s Fall/Winter collection and it holds a series of firsts for the Lebanese designer. Known for deriving inspiration for his creations from fictional stories, this season, Bazaza chooses to honor his mother by naming the collection “Amal” after her. The collection is also dedicated to all the women in his life who supported and encouraged him since the beginning of his design career.
References to the sense of safety and security offered by women are seen in the designer’s take on armors as jackets and outerwear. Every couture gown comes with its own protective jacket that is inspired by activewear and security apparel. Intricate details from Bazaza’s previous collections are revamped with improved couture techniques like the bejeweled safety buckles which are a nod to the older clasps. This season, the collection comes in strong with its inclusion of trousers attributing to traits like power, confidence, and independence which Bazaza uses to describe the women behind Amal.
Also, for the first time, Hussein Bazaza is launching a line of handbags, jewelry, and shoes. The handbags, named “One”, “Two”, and “Three” are made of leather and feature accents like embossing, signature geometric cuts, and semi-precious stones and pearls respectively. In the jewelry line, the earrings, brooches, and necklaces are hand-made with gold-plating and semi-precious stones that lend a rustic charm to the pieces.
Four high-heeled pumps and four high-heeled thigh-high boots make up the line of shoes. While three thigh-high boots are made in both leather and suede, one pair is made with the designer’s signature lace collage technique.
