Several items from the late King of Iraq’s extensive accessories collection are going up for bidding at Abu Dhabi‘s Estuary Auctions on December 19 as part of the auction house’s Antique and Silver Jewelry sale. It’s the first time the King’s jewelry goes on auction.

The three lots include a royal Iraqi Hashemite hardstone cigarette case set with the royal crown insignia and capital letter G significant of King Ghazi, estimated to attract up to AED/SAR 10,000, a Swiss movement pocket watch with rare photographs of King Ghazi and his wife Princess Aliya bint Ali, on reversible pendant, with an estimated sale of AED/SAR 6,000 to 10,000, and a 1937 bronze model of the king’s favorite champion racehorse, “Kehelan Al Dhabi”, that is estimated to fetch up to AED/SAR 80,000.

King Ghazi bin Faisal was the second ruler, hailing from the Hashemites of Iraq dynasty. He was the only son of Faisal I bin Hussein bin Ali al-Hashemi, the first King of Iraq. He led the country for six years (1933 to 1939) and served briefly as Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Syria in 1920. He was killed in an automobile accident at 27-years-old.

Also going on in the auction are the work of some of the most celebrated and skilled silversmiths that hail from the Middle East as well as precious and rare gems, including an art deco design Cartier necklace with its original packaging that dates back to 1987 and antique pearl necklace composed of natural pearls that were sourced by local divers from Bahrain.
