Harithand is a label by emerging, one-to-watch Lebanese designer and ESMOD graduate Harith Hashim. For the last five years, Hashim has created clothes featuring his signature undulating ruffles, inspired by orchids. If in the past, he has at times become too swept away in the undulating waves of his clothes, his new-found controlled study of the silhouette is now manifesting in an elegant and show-stopping wardrobe.
For Spring 2018, Hashim continues his study of the white shirt, giving it Victorian flair in silk organza with ruffle accents and a play on proportion. To wit: an off-the-shoulder belted blouse offers a strappy, sweetheart neckline while another features the illusion of a plunging V-neck, which remains modest with a high collar and long sleeves.
This story evolves with the introduction of urban styles; a bralette decorated with a ruby red, regal frog embellishment and culotte pants, along with oversized, portrait-collar jackets inlaid with metallic threads with belted waists.
Though Hashim is proving that he can exercise restraint with his clothes and design for day, his ne plus ultra manifests in evening wear.
A languid, teal-blue jumpsuit with silver embellishments; a balletic, tulle mauve dress; and shocking pink gown with his signature ruffles decorate the neckline like the petals of an exotic flower.
