Gucci Reveals the Venue for its Hotly Anticipated Spring 2019 Show

Paris’s legendary nightclub Le Palace is back in fashion. On September 24, Gucci will hold its Spring 2019 show at the iconic venue, bringing Alessandro Michele’s cast of characters to the storied space. In keeping with the after-dark mood of Le Palace, the Gucci show will take place at 9pm and will mark the third and final part in the brand’s yearlong love affair with all things French. (Its Spring 2018 campaign and Resort 2019 show were both homages to French culture and influence.)

For the uninitiated, Le Palace was one of Paris’s most happening nightclubs in the ’70s and early ’80s. Founded by nightlife entrepreneur Fabrice Emaer in 1977, the club was the backdrop to plenty of wild nights, earning it the unofficial title of Paris’s Studio 54—just swap Halston for Yves Saint Laurent. During its heyday, style icon Edwige Belmore manned the door, filling the club with an eclectic mix of influential people and no-name cool kids. The appeal is obvious for Michele, who has long paid tribute to eccentric dressers, populating his shows with unlikely stars of the fashion, art, music, and literature worlds. What’s more is that Gucci’s longtime music maestro, Michel Gaubert, was also the longtime DJ at Le Palace. All to say: Expect an excellent playlist—and some wild fashions—from Gucci’s Spring 2019 show.
