The Golden Globes 2023 are here! Award season officially kicked off last night as the best of film and TV were honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. At this point, we’ve already seen all the shows and movies we’re going to see, so why tune in? For the outfits, of course. It’s the end of the press tour but just the start of every stylist’s busiest season, and this red carpet did not disappoint.
The Golden Globes weren’t televised last year as the organization faced criticism for its lack of diversity, but they’ve come back swinging.
Because the Globes honor television and movies, and make distinctions for comedies and dramas, this is the widest array of stars outside of maybe the SAG Awards. Quinta Brunson, Aubrey Plaza, Austin Butler and Michelle Yeoh all in one night! Notably absent was Brendan Fraser, star of The Whale, who declined to attend because he had been assaulted at the event by the organization’s head. There were also no female directors nominated at the Golden Globes 2023, though Sarah Polley at least snagged a screenplay nom for Women Talking.
