Givenchy fans will be well aware that the Antigona handbag is a tough act to follow. Available in small, medium, and large (roomy enough to fit a MacBook Pro, makeup, and a pair of Manolo Blahniks, we’ll have you know), the leather Antigona is one of the year’s most toted around bags, from Beirut to Kuwait City. Sported by A-listers including Miranda Kerr, Kate Moss, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, no less. So the bar was set high when the maison’s former creative director Riccardo Tisci unveiled the new Duetto handbag for Fall 2017 (just before his departure in February), with his team declaring it the next It bag for the house of Givenchy.
The brand DNA is ever-present in the Duetto bag. Its dainty size may be dwarfed by the dimensions of the Antigona, but the small’n’mighty shape make it practical for day and versatile enough to swing alongside a party dress. The triangular flap and exaggerated zip are design riffs followed through from last season’s collection and play out nicely across seven different colorways. Choose from sharp lemon, caramel, sorbet pink, and crisp navy blue colors in unexpected combos.
Will the Duetto reach cult accessory status like the Antigona? Only a long summer monitoring the street style circuits will tell.
