Gigi Hadid has walked for virtually almost every prestigious fashion house you can think of, but there was still one supermodel rite of passage that she hadn’t yet undergone: a Burberry show. But all that changed on Sunday, when Riccardo Tisci presented his second collection for Burberry, dubbed ‘Tempest’. The designer sent more than 100 beauties down the runway, including Hadid. The part-Palestinian model stepped out on the Burberry runway for the very first time at the British label’s Fall 2019 ready-to-wear show in London, almost five years since her 2014 catwalk debut.
She emerged on the coveted runway to the soundtrack of MIA wearing a layered rugby shirt and leather, embellished knee-high boots. Her signature blowout was traded in for a sleek, wet topknot, with tiny strands gelled to the forehead created by the legendary Guido Palau. As for her makeup, Pat McGrath bleached the 23-year-old’s eyebrows, lending an otherworldly effect to the overall look. She walked the prestigious runway alongside Tisci’s muses, which included superstars Irina Shayk, Mariacarla Boscono, and model of the moment Adut Akech.
The catwalk appearance caps off a busy month for Hadid, who just completed a stellar New York Fashion Week that saw the model grace the runways of Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, and Michael Kors, among others.
