Jon Snow and Ygritte may not have necessarily had a fairytale ending, but Kit Harington and Rose Leslie certainly have found their happily ever after. The actors, who met on the set of Game of Thrones in 2012, tied the knot this weekend in the bride’s native Scotland, nine months after the co-stars announced their engagement. The couple, who play King of the North Jon Snow and his former love interest, wildling Ygritte, in the fantastical HBO mega-series, exchanged vows in Rayne Church, Aberdeenshire, before enjoying a reception at Leslie’s family estate, Lickleyhead Castle.

For her wedding day, the new Mrs Harington turned to a designer from the region for her ethereal floor-sweeping gown. Featuring full-length lace sleeves, a demure belted waist, and a trailing veil, the Elie Saab creation was imbued with a sophisticated romanticism. Leslie paired the dramatic-skirted number with a floral crown and dainty bouquet, and contemporary trailing diamond studs. The ceremony was attended by many members of the Game of Thrones cast, including Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister, Sansa and Arya Stark actors Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, and Emilia Clarke, who portrays Daenerys Targaryen. The newlyweds were pictured arriving separately at the wedding venue, emerging shortly after hand in hand as they ducked through a shower of confetti thrown by their friends and family.

Love first blossomed for the low-key couple as they filmed together in Iceland, though they did not make their first public appearance until 2016. “Because the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love,” Harington told L’Uomo Vogue last year of why Iceland holds a special place in his heart. The pair are typically private, announcing their engagement in The Times newspaper in September 2017, though 31-year-old Harington did open up about the proposal on The Jonathan Ross Show in October. “I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff, but we were in the country and we were sort of under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning…” the actor said of the subdued event, revealing he popped the question earlier than intended. Mabrouk to the happy couple!
