Fatima AlBanawi’s Orange Embroidered Dress is the Perfect Summer Party Outfit for Cannes

Fatima AlBanawi may be a long way from home at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, but she is ensuring that she carries her roots with her—sartorially, that is. After stepping out in a black, ’60s-style dress with feathered gloves from Jeddah-based brand Tima Abid on the opening night, the Saudi actor and filmmaker was spotted in another creation from a regional fashion house last night.

At the Women’s Stories Gala, Al Banawi ditched the dark and moody evening gowns and opted for a bright orange dress from Cannes-favorite Zuhair Murad. AlBanawi’s look came from the Lebanese couturier’s Resort 2023 collection, featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline with criss-cross detailing, and a layered organza skirt. The refreshing color of the actor’s pick combined with Murad’s signature glittering embroidery made for the perfect summer party outfit to celebrate in the French Riviera.

AlBanawi finished her look with minimal jewelry by Marli (don’t miss her delicate choker and matching earrings), nude heels, and a sun-kissed glam complete with a peachy pout and bronzed skin. When paired with her tousled lob, her beauty look seemed to bring an effortlessly glamorous charm to her ensemble. While it may be a departure from her usually more done-up looks, it only goes to show that AlBanawi can nail both.

The 34-year-old kicked off Day 3 of the film festival by catching up with the gala’s honorees sea-side, and was photographed in another colorful outfit. This time, AlBanawi held on to her love for feathers with separates that featured them on the sleeve, and came in a bright blue and green tie-dye print.

AlBanawi is yet to walk the red carpet of a Cannes Film Festival premiere this year, and when that happens, it’s safe to assume that it will be just as remarkable as her looks leading up to it, if not more.
