Take a Tour of Veils in the Vogue Archives

Veils have been an unexpected fashion accessory to emerge from the couture, ready-to-wear, and bridal runways in recent seasons. One of the oldest female accoutrements, sheer face coverings go beyond serving formal purposes and can be worn for function and form respectively. See Cindy Bruna in Vogue Arabia’s launch issue couture shoot, who, with her embellished tulle veil, recalled images of a young Coco Chanel taking a walk down the Tuileries in Paris.

The Vogue.me video by Tamas Sabo and directed by Vivienne Balla, with makeup by Bianca Hartkopf, Vogue Arabia explores the Fall 2017 makeup trends behind a sequence of veiled looks.

On the cover of the inaugural September issue, Bella Hadid ‘s curtained gaze was both dramatic, demure, and above of all beautiful. Ahead, the most breathtaking face veils from the archives. Click through the gallery for the 101 on how to play peek-a-boo.
