Exclusive: The Making of Dior’s Festive Takeover of Harrods in London

Photo: Adrien Dirand

With the festive season upon us, it’s time to celebrate the spirit of giving and generosity, but to also make gingerbread houses and drink some hot cocoa. To that end, Dior and London’s Harrods have joined forces to create The Fabulous World of Dior. The collaboration celebrates the French fashion house and the luxury department store’s 70-year-long friendship.

A fabulous yet heartwarming display from the outside, the building is spectacularly illuminated by nighttime and just as vibrant and welcoming during the day. The interiors are cozy with fairy lights while the façade features a magnetic Shepherd’s Star placed as a central sculpture, which at the height of 17 meters, is the building’s largest to date.

Further in, visitors can discover two pop-up stores with fairytale-inspired decors, and housing original creations specially designed for the event. An exhibition can also be viewed after booking a slot online, which plays on scale and proportion to showcase the architecture of Dior’s iconic locations – from Granville to La Colle Noire, via 30 Montaigne. What’s more, Café Dior at Harrods has been set up to offer visitors festive treats made out of gingerbread, and much more.

Below, check out the making of The Fabulous World of Dior, shared exclusively with Vogue Arabia.
