When it comes to celebrity nuptials we are more than accustomed to multiple wardrobe switch-ups, opulent fountains purely for decoration, an A-list guest list, a haute couture wardrobe, and the usual yacht parties etc. Not so for Vogue model Emily Ratajkowski who wed her actor boyfriend Sebastian Bear-McClard in a courthouse ceremony in NYC in none other than a Zara suit that costs US $200 in total.
The mustard-yellow pant suit is not sold together, rather separately for the style trailblazers out there. Eschewing the traditional white wedding gown, Ratajkowski teamed her suit with a large-brim hat that hat veiled detailing on it. Naturally comparisons are being drawn between the renegade model and Bianca Jagger when she tied the knot with Mick Jagger circa ’71.
Saudi designer Arwa Al Banawi’s collections have a strong focus on the pantsuit: “I look into making women feel comfortable and powerful at the same time by changing the classic pantsuit into looking more effortless and cool, modernizing it for the millennial age,” she shares with Vogue Arabia. Iconic women throughout history have turned to the suit as a sartorial position that emboldened their social footing as strong, dynamic women with careers, perhaps children, and a schedule to stick to.
