Elie Saab Fall 2019 RTW. Indigital

Elie Saab can always be counted on for a beautiful lineup of eveningwear, and for his Fall 2019 ready-to-wear collection—presented during Paris Fashion Week on Saturday—the Lebanese couturier did not disappoint. Aptly named “Lovestruck”, it’s hard not to fall for the designer’s offering of colorful jersey dresses, velvet tuxedos, and sequined beaded gowns.

Models emerged down the runway set to the soundtrack of ‘Love Action’ by the Human League wearing a range of rainbow-colored dresses, thigh-high boots, oversized ruffled bows, and pantsuits with high collars. A sequined emerald tuxedo with a matching pleated cape set the tone for the sequence of black, lace looks that would follow.

As one expects from Saab, there was an ethereal lightness overall, with fluid silks, diaphanous organzas, and delicate lace woven throughout. A series of red carpet-worthy evening dresses in rich jewel tones rounded out the collection, serving as a study in Saab’s outstanding craftsmanship. The closing look, a sapphire ballgown equipped with a flowing skirt and a dramatic cape worn by Cindy Bruna, had the entire FROW (Which included Olivia Palermo, Sofia Carson, and Lana El Sahely) pulling out their iPhones.

The show unfolded just days after former First Lady Michelle Obama wore a blue, powersuit from the Damour-born designer’s eponymous label while promoting her best-selling memoir, Becoming, at YouTube’s BookTube space in Austin, Texas. The bold pantsuit featured racing stripes down sides of the trousers, which matched the colorful striped shirt she wore underneath her blazer.
