Tonight saw the opening of a special edition of the El Gouna Film Festival. After being postponed twice, the long-awaited event kicked off “without any festivities” according to the organizers, in a commitment to supporting the burgeoning film talent in the country.

The stars in attendance seemed to follow a dress code of subtle elegance, with all of them opting for hues of black, white, and silver. However, the signature sartorial drama associated with the film festival was still intact, as Egyptian actor Yasmine Raeis looked radiant in a royalty-inspired look featuring black opera gloves, and a caped gown. Meanwhile, industry icon Yousra favored a black tailored co-ord by Mrs Keepa over dresses, which combined a long asymmetrical top with flared sleeves and narrow trousers. Singer Elyanna took to the stage to deliver a soulful rendition of her song ‘Olive Trees’ at the opening ceremony, for which she wore a minimalistic yet dreamy white lace gown with matching hair accessories.

Also spotted at the event were star couple Passant Shawky and Mohamed Farrag. While Farrag went for an all-black suit with a turtleneck, Shawky arrived in a sleeveless black and white tiered dress with ruching all over. Egyptian actor Jamila Awad also went for a two-toned dress by Rami Kadi, with an embellished white center, and black panels on the side.

Check out all the highlights from the opening ceremony of the sixth edition of the El Gouna Film Festival.
