The Burberry Fall 2017 collection cemented the look as relevant for right now. Christopher Bailey‘s see-now-buy-now collection that showed in London this week revealed gigantic, one earring pieces that grazed the décolletage styled with eveningwear (as expected), chunky fur coats (great for the Middle Eastern It girl traveling to colder climes), and even teamed the trending accessory with urban streetwear (not so expected). Fast forward to the Spring 2018 collection and the extra large earrings on the runways at Naeem Khan, Marc Jacobs, and Ralph and Russo were dripping with dazzling stones, pearls, and crystals. This time the designers gave the green light to wear these after-hours pieces during the day, with the styling pointing to 24-7 glamour. Daytime looks made complete with chandelier-style earrings included metallic trench coats at Ralph and Russo, silk turbans at Marc Jacobs, and day dresses at DVF. The take-home here? Start the day with coffee and then accessorise. Supersized earrings at Brandon Maxwell included sculptural designs, clustered colored beaded earrings were seen at Carolina Herrera, and abstract gold shapes danced between string tassel earrings at DVF. The consistent theme among the trending accessory is simple: the look is big, it’s bold, and it’s for all hours.
