Dubai-based independent fashion agency The Qode has announced it is partnering with European communications and marketing group The Independents. The latter was founded by German public relations guru Karla Otto and Paris- and Shanghai-based entrepreneur and founder of K2, Isabelle Chouvet.

The Qode, which was established by co-founders Ayman Fakoussa and Dipesh Depala in 2010, will represent The Independents and its two founding agencies, Karla Otto and K2, in the Middle East. “For The Qode’s clients it’s business as usual, but now with a global perspective. We have always offered our regional expertise to global clients, but this partnership allows for an even more integrated approach,” said Fakoussa and Depala in a press statement. “Between us, we already share a long list of common clients which makes this partnership very cohesive and readily implemented for any brands looking to make their mark in the Middle East.”

Echoing on their statement, Otto said: “Since The Qode was founded, we have worked together in various capacities and know that this collaboration has many synergies that will be of great benefit to all parties in The Independents’ network. I met Ayman 10 years ago when he was at Villa Moda and quickly developed a great friendship and working relationship. Shortly after The Independents was formed, Alexander Werz, Isabelle and I met with Ayman and Dipesh and it soon became very clear that this partnership was a natural next step.”

Chouvet added: “It is an exciting time for the region and we are very happy to have Dipesh and Ayman representing our clients’ interests [in the Middle East].”

The Qode represents a roster of luxurious fashion and lifestyle brands in the region, including Givenchy, MCM, Loewe, Les Benjamins, and Maison Assouline. Meanwhile, between Karla Otto and K2, The Independents is one of Europe’s largest communications and marketing agencies, with a presence in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Milan, Tokyo, Shanghai and Beijing, and boasts an impressive client portfolio that includes the likes of Celine, Swarovski, and more. The Independents also has offices in Hong Kong and most recently in Munich.
