Last night in Dubai, amid an opulent candlelit setup with gilded palm trees, cascading grape centerpieces, and darling “Miss Dubai” dolls dressed in scaled down Dolce & Gabbana dresses, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana—along with Al Tayer Group’s CEO Khalid Al Tayer and Vogue Arabia Editor-in-Chief Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz—hosted a private dinner at the One & Only Royal Mirage. Sheikhas Wafa and Maytha Hasher Al Maktoum, and Dolce & Gabbana muse, former Dutch model Marpessa Hennink, were among the guests spotted enjoying the intimate gathering.
Following the dinner, guests made their way to the Arabian Courtyard were they were treated to a mock traditional Italian restaurant named Trattori-Anna. In an homage to all things Italian, the backdrop included checkered tablecloths, food stalls, while Vogue Japan’s Editor-at-Large, Anna Dello Russo, offered a pizza-themed performance.
In addition to the stylish guests in attendance, including sibling set Shouq and Fahad Al Marzook, and Kuwaiti fashion aficionado Sarah Al Wazzan. Fresh off a flight from Kuwait, Al Wazzan touched down in Dubai and was immediately whisked from the airport to the soirée. Known for her arsenal of off-the runway pieces and unpredictable fashion sense, she proposed an understated take on eveningwear dressing by way of her first-class style. In a sea of gowns, Al Wazzan stood out in a pair of Dolce & Gabbana crystal-embellished jeans and a black, silk high-neckline top from Zara. Speaking to Vogue Arabia, Al Wazzan candidly shared her airport mishap, “Because of my pants, I had so much trouble going through airport security as I kept beeping.” She completed her look with a boom box handbag (that actually plays music), jewel-encrusted, crown-detailed headphones that she sported around her neck in lieu of a necklace, and black peep-toe heels, all by Dolce & Gabbana. Al Wazzan’s understated outfit rivaled the most decadent looks, and aptly reflected her modern dolce vita style sense.
