In celebration of its 70th anniversary this year, the house of Dior has launched its first mentorship program: “Women@Dior”— a year-long initiative that matches female Christian Dior employees with female students to help them achieve their career ambitions. The mentorship program, which launched in March to coincide with International Women’s Day (March 8), started in Paris and now spans over 10 cities hailed as fashion capitals, including Dubai.
The program was launched at the Vogue Cafe in the Dubai Mall and was attended by the mentors, students (six of whom studied at the Canadian University of Dubai), and women holding senior positions at Christian Dior. The Christian Dior employees from one of six business areas within Dior Middle East—including fashion retail, buying, finance, marketing, human resources, and public relations— provide the selected students with face-to-face career advice and guidance every three months.
The mentorship lasts for one year and reflects the work of recently appointed artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri, who has included messages of gender equality and female empowerment in her debut collection—notably outfitting models in a white T-shirt emblazoned with the text “We Should All Be Feminists.”
The empowering program is also present in Shanghai, London, New York, and Tokyo.
