Although the future of fashion weeks has been uncertain since the onset of Covid-19, the sartorial world is doing all it can to keep couture shows alive. Returning this month, albeit virtually, Paris Couture Week is enough to keep the fashion enthusiasts hopeful, and the creatives inspired. While buyers, journalists, and bloggers will miss the bustle of dashing between shows as they show off the best of street style, we can’t help but appreciate the ease of catching the shows from the comfort of our homes.
Read on below for our guide of the upcoming couture shows that are a few screen taps away.
British couture house Ralph & Russo, as well as Lebanese couturier Georges Hobeika will be presenting their Fall-Winter 20/21 collections in digital presentations on their respective platforms. Watch the Ralph & Russo digital couture collection here at 7pm UAE time/6pm KSA time and the Georges Hobeika digital show at the label’s Instagram account.
In Paris, the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM) is all set to take the Paris Couture Week online for the first time in its history. According to the French fashion’s organizing body, the digital haute couture shows will take place on a dedicated platform, and “each House will be represented in the form of a creative film/video.” The platform will feature the official schedule according to which the videos will be released. These videos can also be viewed again once the initial broadcast has ended.
The three-day event will take off on June 6 with Schiaparelli, and feature presentations by Iris Van Herpen, Christian Dior, Giambattista Valli, and Azzaro. The Arab designers taking the digital space this day are Lebanese couturiers Rabih Kayrouz and Georges Hobeika. Day two will see Virginie Viard debut her third couture collection for Chanel, while Lebanese designer Elie Saab will showcase his couture collection on the third and final day.
