On March 30, Omani royalty, regional influencers, and press descended upon The Chedi in Muscat for the relaunch of Buthaina Anees Al Zadjali’s Bthaina Resort 2017 collection. Set at the hotel’s luxurious Long Pool, the exquisite collection was inspired by her hometown – more specifically, traditional Omani antique silverwork and geometric shapes that are typically found in the Sultunate’s culture. “I developed a unique embroidery technique using gold wire thread, which is folded and hand-sewn in Omani derived patterns. There are also custom-made sequins, which were hand-embellished onto a selection of styles,” the designer tells Vogue Arabia.

The collection marries classic Arab silhouettes with contemporary geometric shapes and elements. “It is sophisticated with a vintage feel, suitable for day and evening wear,” she says. “The silhouettes are versatile and flexible to cater to today’s modern woman, while the colors are earthy, referencing back to the vintage aesthetic.” The collection of dreamy kaftans and flowy abayas in a palette of soft blush, cream, and gold hues was displayed alongside a new addition to the brand: jewelry. The new jewelry line will be sold exclusively at her boutique in Muscat, and will make a great accessory to pair with the feminine designs come Ramadan.
