French-Algerian designer Faiza Bouguessa reveals her eponymous label’s Spring 2017 collection lookbook on Vogue Arabia. With a crisp color palette of white contrasted with black and navy, Bouguessa drew inspiration from the contemporary architecture of Hotel Mar Adentro in Mexico and her holidays spent on the French Riviera. Speaking to Vogue Arabia, Bouguessa reminiscences, “I have spent so many summers in the South of France; this collection is not about a specific memory, but rather the atmosphere on the Riviera during the summer. It’s the morning markets, the sound of the cicadas, and the sunsets while on a catamaran.”

Here, Bouguessa again explores a minimal aesthetic that echoes clean silhouettes and tailoring. Emphasis on pockets was a prominent element that turned up with piped borders on overlays, suspended on a belt like a pouch, and on bell-sleeved tops and skirts. “This season I have introduced pockets to complete some of the looks. I thought of them as a way to create versatile pieces that can be styled in different ways. I wear some of my designs over and over again, so I wanted to add elements that can make these pieces look different,” says Bouguessa.
