This UAE-Based Label Pays Tribute to Morocco in an Evocative New Collection

It’s one of Morocco’s most iconic locations, and it’s been brought to life by one Middle Eastern designer. Dubai-based label Bambah has unveiled its Fall 2018 collection, which takes style cues from the blue-washed buildings of Chefchaouen’s old town. The womenswear brand, helmed by designer Maha Abdul Rasheed, uses multiple shades of the tranquil hue in its latest line, from azure gowns adorned with the label’s signature oversized bows, to ice-blue separates crafted with delicate embroidery.

The after-dark-ready dresses are a standout star of the collection, with theatrical, voluminous skirts, exaggerated floral embellishments, and nostalgic, Fifties-inspired silhouettes reigning supreme. Silky, high-necked maxis and printed, spaghetti-strap dresses also feature, with the playful details and whimsical prints you’d expect of the label. This season sees the introduction of more versatile, lightweight pieces such as silk cargo pants, which put a luxe spin on the wardrobe staple, as well as a blend of neutral tones and metallics woven throughout.

Each collection is typically born from Rasheed’s passion for travel, with Fall 2018 no exception. The season’s campaign was even shot on location in Chefchaouen, with the city’s iconic architecture enhancing the mood and drama of the collection. “I’m so happy we came and finally got to do this,” said Rasheed, Bambah’s designer and founder, adding that a Dubai team flew in to create the sublime imagery. “This city has been on my wish list for so long. I did something completely different and I went out of my comfort zone.” The designer added that her grandmother is her perennial inspiration, revealing she lives by her “role model’s” advice. “Laugh a lot, move a lot, and always have fun being you,” was her grandmother’s life motto, according to Rasheed.

Bambah’s Fall 2018 collection is set to hit stores in September, with stockists including Harvey Nichols in Kuwait, Riyadh, and Hong Kong, Chamelle Plaza in Jeddah, and online at Farfetch, Moda Operandi, Ounass, The Modist, and bambah.com.
