Here’s What Was Said During the Fashion Prize Jury Deliberation

We are less than a day away from revealing the two designers that will take home the 2016 DDFC/Vogue Fashion Prize. Ahead of the winner announcements, we take you inside the jury deliberation of the ready-to-wear and accessories finalists’ Spring 2017 collection presentations.

At the Al Quoz studio in Dubai, the atmosphere was electrifying, with the designers’ nerves running high. Each finalist faced the selection committee to share their stories and collections with the judging panel that consists of 11 industry experts from both the regional and international fashion community. Vogue Arabia’s Features Director and Fashion Prize juror Caterina Minthe shares, “It really is a journey for everyone; and we hope that each designer will take the feedback received today and continue on their respective paths with a renewed determination to succeed.”

Here, a snapshot of what was said at the DDFC /Vogue Fashion Prize deliberation from jury members and the finalists.

“I started by myself, and five years later we are a ‘we.’”

“I’m inspired by menswear. It’s understated. It’s straight to the point.”

“I wanted to represent the two sides of Dubai: the past and present.”

“I take them on a journey and people want to know where I’m going to take them next.

“I love doing my own Instagram; it’s sort of my passion.”

“You have to know what you’re good at and promote those things.”

“Know your strengths, but more importantly know your weaknesses.”
