The closing ceremony of the 2017 Cairo International Film Festival was not short on sartorial highlights. As CIFF hands over the baton to DIFF this week, with the red carpet rolling over to the Emirates, the fashion desk is primed for some serious floor-sweeping gowns serving black-tie dress code goals galore. Building up to a style crescendo, Nelly Karim took to the finale red carpet at CIFF wearing a creation she had designed. Consisting of a velvet waistcoat and pants set, with a flattering side panel tracing up the side of the leg, her dapper sparkly tie made the androgynous look one for the woman’s woman. “Everything designed by me,” is the caption Karim added to her sequence of shots that captured her velvet deluxe look in 360. From the burgundy clutch with a crush-fabric finish to her jewel-encrusted cuffs, there’s clearly even more talent to Karim than we see on screen.

Dorra Zarrouk opted for a Rami Kadi couture piece and deftly styled it with El Mawardy jewels (also worn by Hend Sabry at CIFF). Zarrouk wore Look 13 from Kadi’s FW17 couture collection that the designer personally showed to Vogue Arabia at the haute couture shows. “It’s couture for a woman who wants to take risks and be daring,” Kadi told Vogue. “She will be unique in my clothes.” And indeed, Zarrouk stood out from the crowd.

Yousra took her final turn on the 2017 Cairo red carpet wearing Egyptian jewelry brand Nakhla and a creation by Elie Saab. The trio took to Instagram with supportive emoticons and witty captions of each other throughout the evening, with Karim and Yousra posing for a shot behind the scenes, with a caption by Karim, “With our diva.” Serving serious sisterhood career goals.

Bravo for the sister act in style, ladies.
