The hotly-anticipated Super Bowl LIII is set to unfold in Atlanta today. Although Ciara won’t be performing at this year’s halftime show in her hometown (Maroon 5, Travis Scott, and Outkast’s Big Boi are the official performers), Vogue Arabia’s cover star was tapped to co-headline night one of the inaugural Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest in the lead up to the sporting event alongside Ludacris this weekend. The Grammy award-winning singer took to the State Farm Arena stage on Thursday night to belt out some of her most popular hits, including “Goodies”, “1,2 Step”, and “Level Up”.
For the occasion, the singer wore an oversized black bomber and a snapback emblazoned with the text “icon” across it. Indeed, when it comes to her onstage ensembles, the singer is a fashion icon in her own right. Whether she’s gliding across the stage in a leather, long-sleeved bodysuit or singing the national anthem wearing a crystal-laden evening gown, the popstar has forged her own distinctive style when it comes to her onstage sartorial choices. “I like wearing whatever’s cool to me, honestly,” reveals the mother-of-two in conversation with Vogue Arabia. “It doesn’t have to be a high-end designer. It can be an up-and-coming designer, it doesn’t matter to me. It’s more about what catches my eye,” she stated. However, when it does come to international labels, the singer counts the likes of Zuhair Murad, Balmain, Givenchy, and Saint Laurent, as her favorites. “I’ve loved Zuhair Murad for years. He’s one of the top designers I look to, especially for red carpets, because I just feel like he just gets it. He knows how to make a woman look really beautiful and effortlessly sexy,” she admits.
But at the end of the day, the 33-year-old, who describes her overall style as “tomboy chic” reveals that she wants to keep things real with her fashion choices. “I’m a tomboy, so no matter what I wear, it needs to have a little bit of edge to it. That’s just who I am.”
